Making a new Backsplat for a Chippendale Chair

This is a very common problem in Chippendale-style chairs with pierced backsplats. Usually I try to reproduce parts exactly as they were created originally. In this case, the original backsplat was a lamination, a technique that should make the part stronger. But the centerpiece of the lamination was just veneer, a didn't do any good. So I decided to make the new backsplate out of a single piece of solid wood.
