Our Philosophy of Restoration
Whenever possible, I like to give what I like to call a "gentle restoration." This means making my repairs in the manner of the piece's original construction. My job is to recreate that same level of craftsmanship.
When I restore an antique piece of furniture, I try to leave as much of the original patina as I can. In situations that do require refinishing, I try to use antique methods and materials (e.g., shellac, varnish, wax, hide glue, and the like) whenever possible.
