Restoring an Italian Server

This video addresses a common problem of antique furniture -- tops and panels that have cracked because they weren't installed in such a way as to allow the wood to move. I suspect that when this Italian server was built, wood movement may not have been an issue, because there was no central heating in the home. But now in our modern homes, especially here in New England, we are subjected to extreme indoor changes in humidity, between the dry winter heating season and those two weeks in August when the humidity gets really bad. The solution for this top, as seen in the video, I like because it's as non-intrusive as possible; I only put screw holes on the inside of the cabinet and the underside of the top -- easily reversible should the need arise in the future.
